Bali’s first royal Turkish hammam and soulful ‘Divine Therapies’ promise tip-to-toe indulgence and energy rebalancing amid boundless panoramas
United Arab Emirates, Dubai, 2022: Jumeirah Bali, the latest addition to the luxury hospitality company’s global portfolio, is bringing the group’s award-winning Talise Spa to the stunning beach area of Uluwatu. Taking relaxation to the next level, Jumeirah’s collection of luxury spas is the epitome of revitalisation. In July, once the spa is fully operational, guests will be able to experience the only traditional Royal hammam on the island, alongside an array of soulful ‘Divine Therapies’ and holistic wellness therapies inspired by the Majapahit Empire that ruled the entire region until the 16th century and whose ruling elite called Bali home for centuries.
Located on one of the resort’s uppermost terraced levels, Talise Spa offers a verdant sanctuary with sweeping views of a traditional Balinese healing garden, creating a wonderfully serene setting to indulge in soul-healing indigenous therapies. The all-encompassing spa draws on the Hindu – Javanese concept of ‘Satyam, Siwam, Sundaram’ (Truth, Consciousness, Bliss), which promotes the idea of living a balanced and harmonious life to achieve true beauty and spiritual purity. Focusing on timeless beauty traditions passed down generations, the spa takes guests on a therapeutic journey where Balinese traditions, Arabic therapies and European expertise combine to deliver a memorable sensory experience based on therapies that have cleansed and nourished the body and soul for centuries.
Nestled within the spa’s 1,705-square-metre heaven of tranquillity is an opulent Turkish hammam that pays tribute to Princess Campa, who was instrumental in introducing local ruling elite to the Ottoman Empire’s world-famous bath-houseculture in the 14th century. Impressed with Hammam’s purifying qualities, the Princess was quick to incorporate hammam and gommage into her beauty routine and social life, turning to the steam therapy to detoxify, purify and heal the body and soul.
As the first spa in Bali to feature a Royal Hammam, Talise Spa at Jumeirah Bali will offer decadent cleansing rituals, including the signature Royal Campa and Royal Dwara hammam experiences promising deep relaxation and detoxification. As guests rest amid regal splendour and twilight on a heated marble slab, Jumeirah Bali’s ornate palace of healing steam and flowing water transports them to Princess Campa’s court where spirituality, self-care and appreciation of Bali’s natural beauty were essential to living a balanced life.
The team at Talise Spa at Jumeirah Bali is guided by a belief that the needs of the body and spirit depend on the individual dominant chakras and birth elements, resulting in bespoke experiences, journeys and therapies that incorporate a local touch and Balinese spirituality. Guests can choose from holistic facial treatments, healing and energising massages, cleansing scrubs, stress-release therapies based on ancient Balinese techniques, and traditional herbal preparations. They will be able to further personalise their experience using luxury and traditional organic products and make the most of the spa’s additional wellness facilities, which include the sauna, steam bath and Vichy shower treatments.
To delve deeper into Bali’s spirituality, the spa’s collection of soulful ‘Divine Therapies’ has been developed to assist guests in improving or balancing their dominant chakras. With each step of the sequence designed around Balinese beliefs and customs, the focus is on authenticity and honouring tradition. One of the ‘Divine Therapies’ is the ancient Balinese practice of Wewaran (Bali Numerology) that calculates and then balances the dominant chakra as well as elevating the other six energy points.
Under the guidance of world-class experts, guests can also choose to participate in guided meditation and yoga classes as part of an all-encompassing holistic retreat hosted by Jumeirah Bali’s resident Master Yogi, utilise the modern fitness centre or enjoy invigorating hiking experiences to immerse themselves in the splendid natural surroundings.
