Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority in association with SATTE hosted a spectacular networking dinner on 18th January 2019 at The Oberoi, New Delhi. It was graciously presided over by The Hon. Minister of Tourism Anil Kumarsingh Gayan. Mr Gayan while talking to the media said that MTPA wanted to use this platform to showcase Mauritius as a preferred tourist destination and also promote Mauritius as a destination “beyond the beach”. He added that Mauritius is one of the most Romantic Island getaways, and recently, it has won the World’s Most Romantic Destination 2018 award at the World Travel Awards.” Talking to the media, he said that in 2018, the destination witnessed around 86,000 Indian tourist arrivals and 2019 would see more arrivals. He emphasised on promoting more high-end tourists to the destination as it is geared to meet the demands of high end Indian travellers. The focus is also on promoting the island as a golf, adventure, wedding and MICE destination. MTPA is working to increase the frequency of flights and has also invited Indian carriers to start flying to the island.
