Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority and Air Mauritius recently organised product presentation seminars, for travel agents, in Bangalore and Chennai. The seminars saw an enthusiastic response from over 250 participants. Whilst Mauritius is already established as a preferred wedding and honeymoon destination, the aim was to position the island as a preferred Luxury, Family, Adventure and MICE destination.
The objective of the seminar was also to interact with the trade, share new itineraries and more information on the themes ‘Discover Luxury’, ‘Discover Romance’, ‘Discover Adventure’ and ‘Discover Heritage’.
Mr.Vivek Anand, Country Manager,MTPA India shares “ We are very happy to see the enthusiastic response from Southern India agents. We plan to have similar seminars in other Indian cities in the coming months. Approximately 60,000 Indian visitors visited Mauritius last year and 10% of that were MICE and Destination Wedding travelers. In the first five months of 2014 there were around 26,000 arrivals from India and we expect a major increase of Indian visitors in the subsequent months”.
